Turn out the light, I’ve got
Stars in my eyes.
In the dark of the night
They light up the skies
And the world looks so bright
That I don’t need the light anymore.
There are stars in the skies
Which reflect in my eyes
And I’m sure you can tell
How excited I feel
Now you’re back in my life
And we won’t be apart anymore.
The sky up above
Is a backdrop for love
And the stars are so bright
That they light up the night
And my heart is so full
Now my world is complete around you.

You’ve had a reconciliation adee?
Very happy and hopeful poem, it could be the lyrics for a song.
Ha! Memories… This actually came to me as a song in my head, bit by bit, with Nick Cave’s voice – what a sexy voice he has! Anyhow I couldn’t get rid of it until I wrote it. Amazing that you could tell.
I’m new to your blog and found it through Cindy’s. This poem reminds me of the song, Teardrops by massive attack. Ok so its about tear drops on the fire, not stars but for some reason your poem evoked a similar response!! I look forward to reading more of your work!

My first thought, also, was that this would make a very good song. Tricky melody it woulf need, though. Not in minor key, but at the same time not too jolly or it would cheapen it.
