Breaking Up
Breaking Up
I do regret I can’t forget…
The curve of your cheek
As soft as a peach,
The gleam of your lips
That beg to be kissed,
But your beautiful eyes
Could not hide your lies.
I don’t believe you any more –
I wish that you’d walk out the door.
Please leave me alone,
Don’t call and don’t phone,
And please don’t resist
Or try to persist.

Thanks
That’s true… there will be happiness waiting for us around the corner. Thank you for the visit and comment.
very sad, you have such sa thread of sadness running through your posts
Maybe I should tag my posts ‘Fiction’ or ‘Non-fiction’ as the case may be? Sorry, Sidey… I think sad writing comes more easily to me.
It really is a sad poem, but sometimes we have to be hard for our own sakes.
Thanks, Tilly, I agree!
ugh. once trust lies shattered on the floor after repeated droppings…yeah…
Thanks, Brian, can’t be helped…
Good rhyming.
Thanks, Siobhan, for the visit and the comment.
This is a heartbreak of a poem Denise but there is a certain emotional corner turned and a triumph contained in the last six lines. I suppose someone else could read them and see resignation but I see courage.
This is a wonderful poem!
Thank you, Val. If there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s not to draw out the agony!
Perfect song to post with this poem. Enjoyed it. I don’t find it sad at all when we see people for who they are . . . just the opposite. To me, it’s liberating.
Thanks, Nancy. Taking the decision is the sad part, but once it is taken it is liberating!
NIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!!!!!!!
Such Power and Strength!!

Thank you so much! Where have you BEEN?
