SUNSET
Darkness cloaks the earth
Silhouetted ‘gainst fire in the sky
Reaching, stretching way up high
Streaks of orange, red and yellow
Stunning pyrotechnic show
Colours pale and fade from sight
A monochrome scene
Drawn by moonlight

They don’t last – do they? supplanted by the monochrome of night
No they don’t last as long as we would like, Sidey.
And night brings its own palette, no?
Limited to very many shades of grey, Cindy.
A monochrome scene Drawn by moonlight… is a fine parting shot Denise. I liked this phrase.
Thank you Sunamu!
And no continent does sunsets quite like Africa! I can smell the firewood burning in the boma and hear the hyenas calling with this poem, Adeeyoyo
Thank you Bb, I can’t wait to go to the bush again!
Lovely language, Denise.
Great descriptions. I enjoyed the words you used.
Thank you.
John
Thanks so much John. This one’s a bit rough. I was in too much of a hurry today.
Thank you so much for those lovely words.
I do love to watch the evening sky and see the shadows changing places As it gets darker the colours and clouds become more definite, wonderful time to reflect!
Yes Patrecia, so beautiful and peaceful…
Ooh . . . one of my favorites, Denise! Thanks!
Thanks so much for liking it Nancy.
This humble night owl must protest. The moon and stars are their own display, and only the night can highlight the fury of a thunderstorm. The fickle setting sun is oft can disappoint. Of course, I’m stuck in the Midwest.
I must admit there’s nothing quite like an electrical storm at night, Mike. With all the sound effects!
fade to black…nicecapture added…like the drawn by nights hand…great personification…and a beautiful verse….
Thank you Brian. Have a great Sunday.
Beautiful…thanks Adee.
Thank you Gran. Glad you liked it…
I like the contrast you draw attention to so beautifully, between fiery sunset and monochrome moonlight…
Thanks Ruth. I wasn’t really happy with this one – done in a rush…
Nature does it so well, Denise
Lovely poem.
We can only do so much Kate, like fireworks’ displays, but nature does it best!
I love this post, you have such a beautiful style
Thanks Classic. You’ll make my head swell if you’re not careful…
Each sunset is magical. Thanks for the painting with words.
It’s a lovely poem, Adee, and so true, the lovely last colours and then, as you say, the monochrome.
Thank you very much for the visit and comment, Tinman.
