SHOCK
.
All life was suspended
And the earth stood still
I was encased in a void
Of neither heat nor chill
Breath and blood froze in time
And nothing intruded
In that world of mine
.

So real, thanks Adee
Ooh, I don’t like that feeling…
I like the sounds of that kind of peacefulness.
Odd feeling, like being in a vacuum bubble, floating…
Sometimes shock is good . . . it brings us back to our senses.
Other times, it feels surreal . . . as you’ve described. As if we are in a bubble and nothing intrudes.
When I wrote this I didn’t expect many people to relate to it… It’s nice that you do, Nancy, thanks.
shivers…that def felt real..nice capture…hope you are well…smiles.
I’m glad you could relate to that weird feeling, Brian. I’m great, thanks, and hope you are too, my friend.
Incredibly insightful, Adee. And so real, one can feel it. Good one!
Ah, thank you Ruth, I’m glad you felt it.
I felt it too, very real – a perfect description adee.
Wow, thank you so much, Barb!
I was in a state of shock when my husband had a bad motorbike accident a few years back. The police called me to the scene and when I got there he was lying on the road in a pool of blood. I thought he was dead. He is OK now but I’ll never forget that feeling of shock. It WAS as if I was in a void. Very odd feeling. Well described, Adeeyoyo.
I am so glad that he is ok, Selma. I have had that feeling twice and it is really peculiar. I tried to isolate exactly how it felt and now a little more has come back to me as I write this. Thank you Selma.
An internal retreat, is sometimes the best way to find the place where you are meant to be. If that makes any sense.
Yes it does make sense Jack. Thank you, my friend.
Can certainly identify with that feeling, Adeeyoyo – a shutdown for sanity’s sake. It’s time you had some pleasant surprises in your life
I think that’s exactly what it is Bb. Maybe instead of how some people would go hysterical…
After a week of working on this thing..i THINK i’m back online…Young Dumb and full of American… Well, Okay, scratch the young part.
Missed You
paul
Isn’t it a sod, Paul, how hooked we are… I couldn’t connect on Sunday and was antsy all day long. Missed you too. Bless you, my friend.
Beautiful, Denise. I get the feeling it’s working out something specific. And thus therapeutic.
I hope so.
John
Thanks, John, for liking it. I was just trying to put into words, and sense, what happens when one suffers or is confronted by a tremendous shock.
I find this poem so pretty and unique!
It makes me picture a really suspenseful moment, like SHOCK or something along those lines
Awesome.
Kieran.
Thanks, Kieran, for visiting and commenting on my post. Hope you are settling down and visiting other poets. Go well.
“And nothing intruded in that world of mine” … these words penetrate the soul.
Alone and isolated – nothihg could touch…
Sounds like pain to me that shut you down. Well said.
I think it is a mechanism to protect us. Thanks, Amy.
Well said Adee.
Brings back memories of the times it has happened to me!
Thanks, Gran. Bless you. xxx
Highly descriptive – but not shocking!
Col, are you looking for a shocking reaction to shock?
It reminds me of animals when they freeze in headlights. A moment of stasis when reality becomes too much.
That reaction is probably related to what happens to humans, i.e. fight or flight dilemma. Paralysis is a part of the reaction I described above though.
I know this feeling, it is exactly as you wrote.
Thank you for recognising it, Mark. I think some people never have this experience.
I so often wish to be in that place of calmness and serenity.
Nicely written.
When the world gets too much for me, Epizeuzis, I like to withdraw for a while into a private place in my head and in my heart and picture a beautiful, peaceful scene…
Amazing post, very useful. I wonder why the other experts of this sector don’t notice this. You should continue your writing. I am confident, you have a large readers’ base already!
Thank you. You’re very kind.
