Setting Sail
.
I’m setting sail for nowhere
Just blowing on the wind
With my eyes on the horizon
I wonder what I’ll find
.
I’m setting sail for nowhere
And relying on the wind
Unlike the Ancient Mariner*
To prove to be my friend
.
I’m setting sail for nowhere
I hope I reach my goal
And when I do make landfall
I’ll find the place called Home
.

No problem,, always a pleasure to read..thank you.
I am sailing away
To find another day
One where the sun will shine
And everything is fine
that is the best I can do
That is lovely, Patrecia. Just how I feel!
How soothing Denise; blowin’ in the wind, lookin’ for a soft place to fall that I can call home.
This is for when life becomes too much, Maxi. Escapism, lol!
If “…every man must be his own savior…” we are in deep trouble. Song great alternative to “We are the world”
One of my favourite Johnny Clegg songs…
We are all mariners on the sea of time, Denise,(perhaps from times immemorial) without ever knowing what our destinations are.we fancy favourable winds and reaching ashore. What at best we may tumble upon in this enigmatic sea is an island of Robinson Crusoe which assures us now and frightens us the next moment. Curses and blessings visit us a random and he who reconciles to this fact shall sink without complaint, if he should. The music of his heart is the companion to the grave wherever it is.
Yes, Sunamu, and we are all tested thoughout our lives in one way or another… Life is indeed an enigma, but I do know that one day all will be revealed. I love your ‘sea of time’ and ‘sea of life’ upon which we sail – beautiful!
I love poems of sailing and the sea, Super post. Now because of that I will post a new poem of mine called “The Sailor” watch for it on Friday. Again as always Denise, well done!
I love writing about the sea, Jack. Thank you! I am looking forward to ‘The Sailor’ tomorrow…
I love daydreams for that kind of feeling.
Me too, Liz!
Hope you don’t have an albatross around your neck, like the Ancient Mariner! And reach home safely.
I have been meaning to google and see what an albatross looks like, Col. Heaven forbid that I have that happen to me – I would pass out!
This is awesome, Denise – “setting sail for nowhere” with wind as friend and a goal of reaching Home. Love it, it’s right up my alley…
Thank you, Ruth, I’m glad you like it. Sometimes it’s just how I feel, lol!
I’m not sure you’ve seen this, but it is quite relevant, and even reassuring just here maybe?

That is on a similar theme. I have commented on your site, Ben.
Lovely rhythm today
Thank you, Kate. I tried to reflect the open space of the sea…
Thanks, Denise. Terrific video too.
It was my pleasure, Nancy. Only you and Carl have mentioned the video. I love the song because it has such lovely rhythm and a timeless message. Thank you so much.
Sometimes, an unplanned journey is the best.A lovely poem – hope there is something good on that horizon.
Thank you, Bb. I am just marking time at present, starting to get impatient, but I have no choice for a good few months yet… Have to wait and see what the new year brings.
Your poem allowed my mind wander to nowhere.. what a lovely trip it took! Lol..
I’m so glad you enjoyed the voyage, Jeannie!
My walks become sails to nowhere. I’m going to chant this poem the next time I take one. Which should be tomorrow. Lovely, as usual, Denise.
Enjoy your walk today, Andra. If the surroundings are anything like the picture on your blog, it should be wonderful!
Love the rhythm, the images of the sea and the search for a place called home!
Thanks, Selma. Whenever I think of freedom, the sea comes to mind, stretching endlessly in all directions.
