Multi Sided

.

My heart is on the inside

But I sometimes wear it

On the outside of my sleeve

And then there’s the wrong side

Or the left side

And the right side

Looking on the dark side

Or the bright side

Being on the winning side

Not the losing side

Is the upside

Not the downside of life

Not to mention the blindside

When you fall in love

.

About adeeyoyo

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people!

I get the feeling there is something you are not sharing with us. :)

  2. adeeyoyo says :

There is a little detail, Gran. Actually I’m not sure if it is little or big… :( / :)

  3. Twolips2 says :

Nice one, adeeyoyo. I think I can identify a little.

  4. Ben Naga says :

I detect a hint of intoxication here: the sweet wine of love. :P Or, from another point of view, should be describe it a sparkling diamond.

  5. nrhatch says :

This reminds me of a song. Don’t recall who sang it:
Upside down, You turn me . . . Inside out, Round about

    Enjoy the multi-sided sensations. :D

  6. johnell74 says :

Oh! Lovely Denise. Perhaps Sidey ought to see this.
What a variety of aspects you bring out.
    Thank you
    John

Sometimes, we’re undie-sided, when we get them in a bunch. Heeeheee..
We are all seeing a ‘sunnyside’ of you..Good luck and God bless.

  8. Maxi Malone says :

Sounds like a heart inside the washin’ machine with eyes squeezed shut … wonderin’ how it will come out … and with who.

    Blessings – Maxi

Sounds like your heart is like the six sided Rubiks cube. So many combinations to consider, Adee. xx

  10. colonialist says :

    Fun!
Does being in love make one put on side? :)

  11. adeeyoyo says :

Not sure I get you, Col…? Love can blindside one, i.e. Hit one on the blind side, or on the side where you are not looking.

  12. kateshrewsday says :

Such a confusing business, this love: and beautifully summed up in your poem. It’s hard to know which side to look….

  13. 1smiles says :

The only feeling that matters is the one inside of you. Enjoy the joy and happiness and giddiness of love! Love given is never wasted.

  14. Shas says :

    Well-penned.

  15. adeeyoyo says :

Thank you, Shas, for your visit and comment. :)

  16. The Hook says :

Your heart sounds very deep,my friend…
    Nothing wrong with that!

  17. sonsothunder says :

    Look at the bright side…

From Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:

    I hold it true, whate’er befall;
    I feel it, when I sorrow most;
‘Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

    Bless You
    paul

There are many different sides to love. I really like the image of wearing the heart outside on the sleeve – vulnerable yet strong. Very nice!
