Body and Soul
~~~
My body feels drought and rain
My soul feels joy and pain
But some live in the clouds
Behind chemical shrouds
Afraid to display
Heartache and grief
In the mistaken belief
That emotion disclosed
Is weakness exposed
~~~

Love the last two lines.
They refer to mostly guys, macho-men. I do think our world is changing in that respect though, Gran. They aren’t as afraid of showing their feelings as they used to be.
Love your poem, again adee
*hugs*
Thanks, Hope. ♥
“…emotion disclosed is weakness exposed.” For some maybe. Still, better out than in.
Blessings ~ Maxi
Oh, yes, Maxi! Remember when parents would say, ‘Come on then, you’re a big boy, not a cry baby.’
Very true perceptions, adee. Love your writing.
Thanks so much, AD.:)
so true…and sad that many hide their emotions…not wanting other to perceive it as weakness…this is big in men especially….
Yes, Brian, when parents would encourage their little boys to ‘be a man’.
