Approach of Autumn
.
The early morning air
Has a chilly hint of cold
Whispering in my ear
A sweet reminder that
Autumn is almost here
Summer is moving past
Her flowers withered by the sun
We need the autumn respite
Before the winter comes

I have just received this from my friend, Joan, in Canada, and thought you would enjoy it:
Who said we didn’t evolve from monkeys???

i love autumn…i am a little jealous, other than knowing that winter is coming…i am kinda glad we are almost out of it….we do need fall though…
Autumn is my favourite season too, Brian. I don’t understand why though, but I even prefer it to the promise of spring.
I like this one – oh, I just did!
Monkeys would be filled with admiration at some of that!
One day I’ll die laughing, Col.
Love this, adee. I must say that I am enjoying the cooler weather now.
Isn’t it such a blessing after that heat, Hope.
It’s the opposing thumbs wot does it, Denise. But monkeys have the edge – their feet are like hands too!
John
Actually I wonder which is why man is where he is today – because of his brain or his opposing thumbs? But it must be his brain because monkeys have twice as many opposing thumbs!
Nice prose from your friend Joan. John gave me a good laugh with opposing thumbs.

Joan sent the video link, Maxi. Wow, what timing and what strength…
Lovely… and here we have cherry trees in blossom, on the way to spring….
Enjoy your cooler autumn, Denise!
Oh, yes Ruth, I will. I think some of the most beautiful flowers are to be seen on fruit trees. Such a pity they are so short-lived, although the fruit isn’t to be sneezed at!
Here in Miami, Florida, USA , it seems like hot summer 8 of 12 months.
I believe you, Carl. It seems like that here in some parts of South Africa too.
Autumn is the buffer for the winter. Beautiful, yet foreboding.
That’s true, Jake. But foreboding only where there are severe winters…
That is true, it’s kind of hard to “suffer” through winter when the temps are still in the 60 to 70 degree f range.
“Who said we didn’t evolve from monkeys???”
Some of us more so than others, I think at times.
