Trust

My trust lies in the dust

trampled underfoot

my soul is exposed

as a worthless part of the heart

revealed as nothing more

and nothing less

than just another word…

I need another world

another space where faith

can teach me to trust again

and not barter trust

for a place in the sun

Our Journey

A gruelling journey

Over mountain crags,

Steep cliffs, wide clefts,

Waters-falling, echoes calling,

In sun and rain, arduous terrain,

Boulders, rocks, and stones,

A TAXing, TIRing test

Demanding our very best

To culminate in sucCESS.

If it were easy, stress-free,

Our victory would be worth-less.

Trembling on a thread

Twists and turns as convoluted

As a spider’s web

Tortuous and complicated

Difficult to gauge

The solution can be simple

As turning the page

Seeing with other eyes

What’s staring back at you

Ahead behind and all around

Perceiving things anew

Colours of Love

 

Colours of Love

 

From the whispered pales of rose petals

to the shouts of red and gold,

from the freshest green of new-born shoots

to the russet hues of old

…discarded leaves,

 

from the first rays of the rising sun

proclaiming another day,

to the beauty of the sunset

which takes my breath away,

the richness of Your colours

is wealth beyond compare

and serves to reassure us

of Your infinite loving care.

The Brink

We are living on the edge
The brink of eternity
Balanced on a ledge
Dropping down to nothingness
Coloured blue by ozone
Then black by emptiness
But He is here
He is there
He is everywhere
His hand will catch us
When we fall
Just remember faith is all

My heart is rapt in the warmth of Your love

He sets his snares here, there, everywhere

Devious detours, deviations

Heady scents of temptations

Powerful images and sensations

All things craven in this world of Satan

Almost irresistible; help me stay incorruptible

Keep me safe, give me faith

To follow in the light of Your love

to place our trust in Him

with child-like faith

Who would have dreamt that I would find

A love like yours, so sweet and kind,

As gentle as the morning rays,

I bask in the sunlight of your gaze.

The walls I built you’re taking down,

And my defences are breaking down.

For twenty years I’ve stood alone –

Twenty years all on my own.

And now I feel there’s time for us,

If we can just restore my trust

With faith and hope and honesty
