Déjà vu
Poor Fudge looked so sad
When I saw her last.
Her spine was raised
And her belly was swollen.
Poor, loyal pet.
It’s so sad to watch her age,
So uncomfortable
And yet so willing to please.
I wonder if I
Will see her again
When I visit next
Or if she too will have gone.
This is the oft
Repeated pattern
When we have pets
And is so hard to bear.

Thank you Cin. This picture is of my little Fluffy who passed away in Jan 2009. Fudge is my friend’s Jack Russel who has the same symptoms as Fluff had just days before the end.

Hi Rea, I’m so glad you found me too! Miss you guys, but I must say I prefer this site! It is sad to lose a pet. See my comments to Cin and Lyndatjie. My pets are like my children! Now I only have Fritz (my avatar). Hugs to you too, my friend!

Thanks for your comment Lyndatjie. She was such a happy girl. See my reply to Cin. The problem with both my friend and me is that we live alone, just with our dogs for company, so I think we feel the loss more, but maybe I’m wrong. Fluffy used to go outside and just stand there for ages until I fetched her back in again. The vet said it appeared to be like Alzheimers or Dementia. They did scans etc. but could not find anythng. And then she started taking fits which got worse and worse. Now Fudge is behaving just the same.

I lost a doggie several years ago, and it was very hard. I have two kitties now who are 10 years old. Now that they’re getting older, I wonder sometimes. . .

I wish they could live as long as we do! I had a cat once who lived until he was 19 which is a very good age.

I wish we didn’t have to go through this. Our pets are like our children. 😦
