Rolling the Dice

Rolling the Dice

With a roll of the dice
You can throw away your life!
Don’t let them entice you to try.
The temptation to win
Can be very, very strong
But you must learn to turn a blind eye.

The odds are too great
And you’ve too much to lose.
Don’t make the mistake
Of leaving it to fate
When luck is so fickle
And the prospect of winning so remote.

    • Thanks, Cindy. I am struggling (not very successfully) with trying not to sound like I’m lecturing in this type of poem – like the Aids and Drunken Driving ones as well.

    “The odds are too great

    Don’t make the mistake

  5. It breaks my heart that people trust their dreams and future now to the roll of a dice… no more hard work and innovation – just lady luck…. 😦

  6. So true!

It occurs to me that the last line might be changed so that the two verses match. How about something like:

  7. Very well done, Adee. It doesn’t come across as a lecture either.
