I write what I feel…

Light and Shade

Light and Shade

The sunlight played
In the dappled shade
Of the maple tree.
Patches of light
Danced to the tune
Of the mischievous breeze.

The leaves floated down
To lie on the ground
And the tree was bare.
Bereft it remained
In the receding shade
Until the spring returned.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people!

  1. Pretty, you’ve allowed a positive resolution at the end, so that Winter is not seen as being brutal.
