Education is the Key

Education is the Key

…to the upliftment of people
From the clutches of poverty;
Lost generations,
Unable to find work,
How many lives have been wasted?
How many brains are asleep?
Having no chance
To better themselves,
Acquire skills,
To learn the very basics
Of Reading, Writing and Math,
These poorest of the poor,
Together with their offspring
Will remain underprivileged
With no ladder to assist them
To climb out of the black hole of poverty.
Hopeless, helpless,
Forgotten/Ignored.

1GOAL: Education for All

1GOAL is a campaign seizing the power of football to ensure that education for all is a lasting impact of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. By bringing together footballers and fans, charities and organisations around the world, together we can call on world leaders to make education a reality for 72 million children by 2015.

  2. Education is an important key but so is birth control.People don’t rise out of poverty when they have so many children.I suppose that gets back to education though but you would think it was common sense?

    • You are right BB, but don’t forget different cultures have different values and, to some, children are wealth maybe because they count on the children to look after them in their old age.

  5. Very good message, but unfortunately even those with the best of education can be the most ignorant. If we can just all “adopt” one child and provide for their education, then our world will become a better place for our children and their children.

  9. If only this can be achieved. It needs good education, though, and focussed education. Not least on the aspects of balanceing ideology against practicality. How ‘liberated’ is a starving person?
