Flight of Fancy

Flight of Fancy

Oh how I want to fly
On the wings of a butterfly!
To soar among the clouds
Like an eagle in the sky.

Oh how my spirit longs
For space to breathe the air,
Freedom to spread my wings
And strength to persevere.

To be at one with nature
And leave the world behind,
Forgetting the race to riches
With all its narrow confines.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  7. Reminded me of my soon to be 3-yr old.

She is always so Upset when she puts on her Butterfly Costume and is unable to flutter her wings and fly 😦

It makes me so sad that she feels so limited…I hope to teach her to FLY via Words…

They, Words, such as yours, remind us that we CAN FLY!!

    • We can fly, in our minds, much better than physical flying. That wonderful feeling that lifts us right up and out of ourselves… Thank you so much for your visit and comment. BTW when I was small I remember trying to be Superman and jumping off the verandah wall. Love to your ‘soon to be 3-yr old’.
