I write what I feel…

Brain Freeze

Brain Freeze

The white screen stares back
Willing me to type a song;
For me to sing along
But the words won’t come.

No brainwaves or inspiration,
Conscious thought, or revelation;
Might as well be brain dead,
With nothing in my empty head.

My muse has gone, deserted me,
Left me alone in my dire need
To struggle along
As best I can without a song.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

    • That’s exactly what happened to me, Brian. I used to keep +- 7 in reserve for dry days or for a day’s break, but they gradually dwindled down to 3, then 2 and now 1. But now I’m buiding up again, lol.

  7. Thanks for sending this link to me! Fun! As you can see, I’ve been there and done that. It seems, however, that whenever either one of has brain freeeze, we are both able to write something. I can go on and on about nothing, as a matter of fact. You at least brought some cogency to your post! Love it!

    • Hahaha, Paula, you don’t know how often that happens to me… but it’s nice to know that others also have this ‘struggle’, NO, ‘challenge’. Thanks so much! 😆
