Falling to Pieces
once upon a time
when i was young
i let myself be led
down the rough road
of self-neglect
i was unworthy
of self-respect
constant abuse
informed me
i was no use
until all of a sudden
my eyes could see
how wrong i could be
‘twas hard to make the break
but i knew i could no longer take
more long years of living this lie
of allowing one to be superior
at the expense of my being inferior
i knew it must end
the decision was hard
to be on my own
and face the future alone
but for the sake of my sanity
i had to face the calamity
of watching my world

It is such a pity we had to learn the hard way. With me I think it’s because I was such an optimist and refused to see what was in front of my nose… Still it worked out in the end for the best I think, because experience is always valuable if you make it so.
