I write what I feel…

String and Sticky-tape

Sidey’s Weekend Theme, 08.10.2010: String and Sticky-tape

String and Sticky-tape

I’ll package up my past
In a brown paper packet
And close it up fast
With string and sticky-tape
So the memories all depart
(out of sight, out of mind)
And I can free my heart.

PS – Sorry, brown paper packets were out of stock…

String and Sticky-tape – 2

You broke my heart
In hundred and thousands
Of little pieces,
And I need mountains
Of string and sticky-tape
To put it together again
And take away the pain.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  1. Good take on the theme, adee.
    Have a super Saturday.

  2. Whoohoo, what a wonderful take on this topic…you made me laugh with brown paper packets out of stock LOL!!! I would love to take part when I learn how to manage my time better 😦 grrrr!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend my dear friend. Sending you lots of love xxx

    • Glad I made you laugh, Amanda! 😀 This is the only challenge I take part in because of the time factor. I would love to try all the others, but it is impossible for me for the next at least 3-4 months. Have a great weekend and r-e-l-a-x! Love, xxx

  3. i like them both…but the second’s simplicity i can se the heart wrapped in string and sticky tape….very nice adee

  4. I like them both; as poetry I prefer the first, but as a solution I prefer the second…. (the first made me think of pandora’s box) – well done!

    • Thanks for the comment. I was also thinking of Pandora’s Box, lol! But I learnt something from this – not to publish anything that I’m not proud of – ever! Rather not post anything than rush it… I cringe now when I read both of them…

  5. The first is my favorite. Yes, wrapping up my past in brown paper sounds like a great temptation!

  6. i liked the first, the idea of gettin rid of the stuff from the past that holds one back is almost irresistable

  7. Lovely take on the theme Adee! Hope you’re well 🙂

  8. Nicely done! I liked both, but have to agree with the majority — the first is my favorite.

    • Thanks so much for your visit and comment. I think I could have done better with both, but unfortuntely I rushed them – and learned a valuable lesson, lol!
