The Bookworm
I live in somebody else’s life
In a strange world foreign to me
Because mine is too boring by half
And so I’d rather subsist by proxy.
I travel the world by land, air and sea,
Live in multiple foreign lands,
Experience life in all its diversity
And never cease to admire the variety.
But what I’ve learned throughout this time:
We have inherent values and goals,
And regardless of outward appearance,
Are all inhabited by similar souls.

Diversity and similarity – would we feel the same if it were just one or the other? Something pulls us, and something keeps us reading and I’m never quite sure which does what… Lovely poem – I’m a dyed-in-the-wool bookworm myself. 🙂

Here you are adeeyoyo!
My sentiments exactly adeeyoyo! nothing makes me feel more sure of this than when I what a foreign family talking to each other…everyone has similar problems no matter where they are from and its comforting in a way to know were all the same.

So true – have just seen a wonderful exhibition called ‘Mirror’ by the artist and author Jeannie Baker – a very clever creative comment on the similarities between 2 completely different cultures.
