The Weavers
Screeching, twittering, flapping wings,
Birds of all kinds: doves,
Sparrows, weavers,
Flying back and forth,
Seemingly at random,
What a commotion!
Over the roof and back again,
Into the trees and out once more.
Leaves are strewn across the lawn,
Whole and ragged pieces
Like the aftermath of a storm,
And when I looked carefully
The little yellow weaver birds
Had built their first nest
In my mulberry tree.

The nest on the left is still being finished. The opening is on the right hand side of the nest. The one on the right was finished this morning. The opening is at the bottom of the nest.

And may our summer storms not harm that little nest.
Good morning, adee, I hope your Sunday is happy and peaceful 🙂

Yes, hopefully it and the little birdies to come will be okay. Lovely sun and blue sky you have there!

The house behind mine used to have huge trees which were full of the weaver nests. Now I see they’ve chopped them down… I love watching them though. So far I’ve only seen one nest and he must have finished it yesterday ‘cos it’s so nice and neat now – I just hope she approves of it, lol!
