Changing Seasons
~~~
Summer is almost gone
And Autumn’s on its way
Trees of green and red and gold
Stunning scenes of coloured leaves
Against an azure sky
Each season is its own reward
But nothing can compare
With Autumn’s exhibition
Of splendour to the eye
It’s nice for the eyes, but my body is dreading it …
I feel the same way. This is my favourite time of the year – early autumn – perfect!
It’s still pleasant enough, but the colour changes herald the raking season for me ;(
I really like the variety, but sometimes both winter and summer can seem to outstay their welcome. 😀
Mine too… Our summer this year has been very mild so I hope that winter is too, although it doesn’t necessarily follow – last winter I froze! 🙂
I have a Japanese maple in my garden too and I do love the way the leaves change at this time of year. I think you notice autumn a lot with maple trees. I really enjoyed reading your poem!
Yes, I agree. I lived most of my life in Durban on the coast of KwaZulu Natal which has a subtropical climate so we hardly had any noticeable change between summer and autumn.
Haha, our days have been more-or-less uniform – beautiful! Looking forward to a bit of cold (I think…). 🙂
