Pray for Earth

Let us all hold hands
To save our lands
Help us choose the path
To heal our earth

To speak together with one voice
To act together with one choice
That the earth may reclaim
What was lost in the past

Let us all hold hands
To save our lands
Validate the path
To heal our earth

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people!

    • I certainly don’t think ‘big business’ is prepared to sacrifice huge financial profits (read ‘rewards’) to do what they should and they should be the ones to set an example to the man in the street… The puny efforts of individuals is laughable, if it weren’t so sad!

  5. Sadly I think you’re right about big business and the tendency to put profits before purpose. How much wealth will be enough for the corporates? I wish there were more leaders out there who would use their positions and platforms to speak out about issues affecting the planet. The Earth has a limit and Mother Nature cannot provide for everyone forever.

    • The problem is the more people have (big business) the more they want… It will never be enough – we DO need influential people to speak out and perrhaps start a movement to get things done and shame these greedy profiteers!

  6. We are not learning anything, Adee – seems we will only do so when it’s too late – look at what happened in Japan – but some continue to try to justify the use of nuclear power. We cannot afford to make these kinds of mistakes whether we learn from them or not (and if Fukushima is anything to go by, it seems we don’t)
