Wishing the Time Away

Wishing the Time Away

I never thought I would deteriorate
To living from meal to meal,
Growing to reflect just what I ate
By just wishing the time away.

Wednesday will see me back on my legs
And using the muscles that slept,
Standing again on my own two feet
And taking some tentative steps.

Recovery is on my horizon at last,
Exercise will fill my day,
Time will grow wings and take to the sky
No more wishing the time away…

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  3. I wouldn’t have said you wished your time away, Denise.
You gave us so much pleasure with your blogs, and that showed me your mind was working full pelt while that frame held you bound.
So congratulations for making so much use of your captivity.
    and on your gradual release.
All the best for this week.

  4. I agree with John ~ you’ve put your time to good use:

Recovery is on my horizon at last,
    Exercise will fill my day,
Time will grow wings and take to the sky
No more wishing the time away…

Hope Wednesday is here before you know it! 😀

  6. I’m so happy you are up and at it again Denise. When we are sick perhaps it’s not the time we are wishing away but the being infirm. hugs

  9. Too often I don’t wish the time away but just seem to exist until a particular time is here. Like payday, or a holiday or something else in the future and don’t feel the interim.

  10. Oh, Carl, that’s what I try not to do… We’re supposed to live IN THE MOMENT, which I can understand, although it’s hard to do, otherwise we waste a lot of our lives!

  11. How wonderful to hear you say
The time at last has come
To stand up on your own two feet
    Just where you started from!
