A Yellow Umbrella
a yellow umbrella
bright as a second sun
stands on the sands
giving shade to everyone
a spring day in may
the sea as smooth as glass
we walked hand in hand
‘long the dunes of velvet grass
a yellow umbrella
and a red beach ball
come and join the fun
beach soccer one and all
oh for those carefree days
of innocence and youth
oh for those carefree days
of energy and health

Oh Yes! Denise.
permanent pills and frequent tiredness are our lot.
I am sure hard physio and a lot of tiredness are yours.
But courage, mon ami, strength will return to that leg of yours, and, with it, happiness
and mobility.
John.

Carefree and happy memories come to mind Adee! Beautifully written.
You’ve inspired me to go have a stroll on our beach with the dog! We could both do with the exercise!
How are you doing?

Youth returns in later years, captured in one’s dreams. Truly wasted on the young, or so, to this old man, is seems.

I agree with you Mike, although I wouldn’t say ‘wasted’ because it give us the ability to still have dreams, but there are times I would love to be young again!

I have a thing for brightly coloured umbrellas. I think it’s because one of my fave movies is ‘Singing In The Rain’ and whenever I see a bright umbrella I am reminded of that which is a very happy memory for me. I also like the vibe of a bright umbrella – it’s a bit of sunshine on a gloomy day. Lovely poem!
