I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

Wildebeest or Whale
Swallows or snow goose
Toad or turtle
Crab or Nightingale
Who taught them?
Who programmed them?
How did they learn.?
Nice thought, Denise.
See what you did to the inside of my head!!!

Thanks so much Nancy. Lately I have struggled with haiku, but this one just wrote itself… amazing!

Most of the migration here is birds, and the season is approaching.

In the days when we had overhead telephone lines, we would see the birds congregating in rows on the wires getting ready to fly off for the winter.
