Princes of the Universe
Who do we think we are
Princes of the universe
Tin gods living out our curse
Stealing from another’s purse
Paying for our fathers’ sins
Hiding in our thickest skins
This world owes us a living
So we must take take take
And never be seen to be giving
Take take take eat the last of the cake
To hell with the others
To hell with our brothers
As long as we’re alright Jack
Take care to scratch each other’s back
We’re princes of the universe
Yes, we’re princes of the universe

Astute commentary in poetic form, Adee – brilliant (‘The Pale Blue Dot’ by Carl Sagan shows just how utterly deluded we are in this regard)

The sense of entitlement that we see in society is staggering. Sometimes I just feel like going to live in a cave. It really is getting to be too much….

Unfortunately this is the way modern society views are .
Your poem seems to fit so well with the hooligans who rampaged through London and other cities about 10 days ago. Mindless, thoughtless thugs….

There is such a sense of entitlement in people today. Most are people who never contributed anything. And it’s always at the expen$e of people that contribute.

We see it a lot here in this country too, Carl. but here the frustration is sometimes understandable. I still say ‘education is the key’ here though.

Thank God there are many who give as much or more than they receive.
Without them, the world would be Hell indeed.
