BLACK MOON

.

There’s a black moon

Sailing in the sky tonight

Foretelling warnings,

Desolate mo(u)rnings,

As its shadow passes over the land,

Our fatherland, motherland,

Our homeland,

Consuming joy,

Exuding sorrow,

Suffering tomorrow.

Father, bless our land,

Present and future generations,

Bless our Rainbow Nation,

With unity,

With harmony.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

    • Thank you, Brian, for your suggestion. I pray for peace in all the countries on Earth, that we can find common ground in our fight against poverty, destruction of the earth’s resources, as well as greed and corruption. May God help and inspire us in this struggle.

  11. Denise, been listening to the chat in the blogosphere. For whatever reason, it seems your countrypeople share this sense of foreboding. My thoughts are with you all.

  12. Without the black moon, one will never be able to realize the necessity of the white moon…both are required for the balance.

  16. You are right, and all so unnecessary, well most, anyway. Some are unwilling to start anew, but have to hang on… All the talk about forgiveness… just talk.. Both sides are to blame, I think.
