Raw Heat

Living on the wild side

To the drum beat

Of the unrelenting heat

Simmering air expanding

Respiration harsh beyond belief

Skin weeps

Until the pouring rain

Brings some relief

  2. Yet the rainy/snowy season brings on complaints as well.. There are few days per year that we are truly happy with, in regard to the climate.. But, a very descriptive poem Denise. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    • I agree that cold can also be severe. I really don’t mind this heat at all because I know it is only for a few months then autumn will be here again. I love the variety of temperatures the seasons bring to us – all of them! Thank you, Jake, for your comments.

  3. nice…both actually and metaphorically…weather wise we are so back and forth this year…38 and rain yesterday…mid 60s today…snow over the coming weekend…craziness…

    • The weather is a bit crazy here too, but not quite as unreal as yours, Brian. After the extreme heat, the cold wind, storms and downpours are so welcome! 😀

  4. I can tell this was written during the hot summer days, Denise. 😀

    I love summer’s warmth . . . tempered with A/C.

  5. I can just imagine how your summer is, Denise. We, of course, are a long way from any heat. Minus 2 degrees C next week!
Lovely and expressive poem, my friend.

    • Me too, Inzwakazi. This place I am now staying in isn’t too bad so far, heat-wise, but I hope that doesn’t mean I will freeze in winter. You can’t have EVERYthing, haha! When I walk outside for exercise though, I burn up and the rain is wonderful. 😀
