Standing on the edge of the world

i look out into the void

one move from me

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  3. That swan is beautiful. Look how white the feathers are.
I think that must be what preparing for flight is like – excited but teetering on the brink!

  4. Good imagery, but with the closing layout it might be taken that the glide actually headed out over the edge and the safety is irony? 🙂

  5. I think we are just like this swan at times. Wanting to step forward into the unknown. But not quite ready to face the unknown, we retreat back to our safety, Very nice Denise.

  11. I can’t take all the credit (much as I would like to), Hook. I wake up during the night or in the early morning with part of the poem in my head. Now and then it has been virtually the whole thing!

    • Well, Bb, flying is the best part of being a bird, but I have seen from watching them that they face a lot of dangers and a large percentage of them have sustained injuries in the past, mostly to their legs and feet.
