.
The ground has shifted
And I am in the rough
My aim is the same
Approach from a different direction
Altered by an added perception
An introspection
I am bogged down by magma
Surrounded by lava
Inspiration has become perspiration
And I can no longer fly
My bird’s eye view
Is now that of a centipede
My steed is a millipede
As I crawl along
Without a song
The rough patch a sticky stretch
To overcome
And stun and numb
.

It’s the weirdest thing, Inzwakazi. Maybe my muse only inspires me when I’m unhappy – who knows… 🙂

No, Gran, I’m not unhappy! In fact, quite the opposite and that’s what is so weird. I can’t write ANYTHING lately!

Your mind is filled with many things. Sometimes it’s alright just to enjoy the good things. I’m glad that you’re happy!

Do you know, Denise, I am tired after reading this.
Most expressive.
I hope you will soon recover your energy!

I have just read your other replies, and now I understand.
For me, if I can’t think of a poem, I simply go and do something else.
I wait until a memory or an experience starts to move me.
Then I write.

Yes, John, that’s what I usually do AND get results. Now, however, the inspiration just isn’t there…

Plenty of switching of metaphors here, as if perhaps thying to get a handle on changing circumstances?

I hit one of those patches last month, Denise – we slog through… And I’m not usually a lover of rhyme, but I love your rhymes – interesting, well thought out, and clearly not rhyme for the sake of rhyme.

I came to this late, Denise. I have been here many times in my life.
I love “my steed is a centipede” especially when the going gets sticky!
Thank you
