Circles and Rings

Circles of life

And of seasons

Circles of time

And of reasons

Rings within rings

We go round and round

In our existence

Subsistence

Spinning fast

Spinning slow

Dizzy, giddy

Quite unsteady

If we pause to think

We are on the brink

A balancing act

As a matter of fact

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals โ€“ sometimes more than people!

  7. Yeah, Denise there always seems to be that “wire” that we must navigate throughout our lives, and pray that if we fall, there will be a net..Or someone to catch us, at least.. Lovely poem, as usual.

  8. Yes Denise, “What comes around goes around. ”
I see the world in seasons nowadays. Nothing more circular than that.

    • So do I, John. But they are getting shorter as the years pass faster… or so it seems!

      • Quite right Denise. my erstwhile neighbour said to me “don’t chop down your Rowan trees – I watch the seasons pass on those. She was eighty-three at the time.
At 74, I know what she meant. The Rowans are still there!

  12. I write a comment whenever I especially enjoy a post on a site or if I have something to valuable to contribute to the conversation. It is a result of the fire displayed in the article I read. And on this article Circles and Rings Adeeyoyo's Blog. I was actually excited enough to post a thought ๐Ÿ™‚ I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it’s okay. Is it simply me or do some of the responses look as if they are written by brain dead visitors? ๐Ÿ˜› And, if you are writing at other social sites, I’d like to follow you. Would you make a list all of your community pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

  16. This world is itself a system of dynamic spheres within spheres… and regular cycles of upheaval and reconstruction. No wonder, if we stop we shall be on the brink.
It’s also true with poetic activity. I can say that from my experience.

    • You are right about poetry, Sunamu, and it is also true about love ‘making the world go round’, maybe not literally, but certainly more pleasantly, lol! – if given a chance…
