.
Evil rides abroad at night
Cloaked in clouds that hide the light,
Looking for a fertile bed
Upon which to rest his head;
His evil thoughts in dreams are spread,
Filling us with utmost dread.
.
Evil prowls the minds of men,
Seeking foothold to craft his den.
He plants his seed where e’er he goes,
Finding places well disposed –
And they’re aplenty, heaven knows –
Offering space for his repose.
.
Oh God in Heaven help us to see
When all is not as it purports to be,
To recognise evil’s distorted face;
Bless us with Your holy grace
That none is misled by his carapace
In traversing life’s obstacle race.

Yes, Denise, we need God’s grace … evil can wear clothes of goodness, to fool us, pull us into the evil web. Blessings – Maxi

Powerful..
I’d like to see this brought to life in a Batman comic!
Seriously, that would work really well, I think.

Well put Denise.
Perhaps the solution is to render our ground infertile as far as evil is concerned.
Seek good, hate evil
Thank you

had to look up carapace. Fitting word as most envision devil as reptilian or insect mixed in human form.

“When all is not as it purports to be……That none is misled by his carapace”
The first demands discretion and a sense of seeing through intentions amd to be always on guard at the risk of doubting the well-intended; the second needs intuition and working of the sixth sense. Over enthusiasm, undeserved attention, over-civility, sweeter than sweet talk are some of the hall-marks.
This is a good advice for the young, my friend. Perhaps timely too.
