Adeeyoyo's Blog

I write what I feel…

As old as the ages

Standing in majesty

Solid and reliable

Steady and dependable

Guardians of history

Selfless sentinels

What tales you could tell

What secrets what memories

All without embroidery

The rise and fall of

Kingdoms and dynasties

From the very start

And the very heart

Until the end of time

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  1. Yes mountains are archives of human history. Khyber Pass comes to mind.

  2. I love those two lines, “Guardians of history, selfless sentinels.” Your poem certainly paints a wonderful picture, adee.

  3. Beautiful poem Denise, well written and thought-provoking.

  4. I think you must have been riding with me yesterday as I drove through the Gloss Mountains of Oklahoma. You described them perfectly!

  5. Denise,

    They indeed tell many stories.

Why? In the end they supply the stone to write epitaphs.
