I write what I feel…

Gentle

I’m on fire

Filled with desire

Only you can appease

So please…

Be gentle with my heart

It’s been broken in the past

Whisper…

Sweet nothings in my ear

Only you and i can hear

And touch me

Tenderly

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  2. Damn and they just get better the more I read… did you teach yourself to do this or does it just come naturally .. a thought process that flows..???

    • Some of each, I think, BD. I started blogging just plain writing to get rid of my frustrations. Then I read the poetry of one of the other bloggers and it was soooo beautiful that I decided to see if I could do it too. Of course mine wasn’t a patch on hers, but it does sometimes just flow and the poems seem to write themselves. There are times, however, that I struggle mainly for topics and/or how to finish off the poem. The blogger who was my inspiration is no longer publishing poetry but she sometimes leaves a comment on my work.

  5. Good for you, Denise. You have not let the past close your heart to what may lie ahead.

  7. Unfortunate that love comes with risk and rejection

    • Everything in life comes with risk, Carl. We wouldn’t achieve anything if we didn’t take a chance. I don’t think there’s anythng wrong with careful and calculated risks. One has to ask oneself, ‘Is it worth taking the risk?’
