.
Falling into the arms of darkness,
Stilling my mind,
Distant dreams all but forgotten,
In the buSY-ness of life.
Taking a break,
Sharpening my brain,
Poetry underlies my every thought,
Inspires my every reflection, conception;
Creating in rhyme or rhythm
Feeds my very soul
And if it were forbidden
I would be far from whole.

I cannot write poetry to save my life, so I admire yours.
PS I sent an email to your complex, but have had no reply as yet.

Thank you so much, Jo. I’m holding thumbs for you. Maybe Debbie is waiting until after the special meeting next week before she replies.

Super, Denise, and as you travelled through the poem you began to slip into rhyme. That happens to me sometimes
Thank you

Thank you, John. I honestly didn’t notice the rhyming… Colonialist has mentioned it in the past too and only after that did I look and, sort of, analyse what I had done. This was meant to be about falling asleep and dreaming, but it wouldn’t go there, lol!

But that’s the way of poetry, isn’t it. It takes us often where we least expect. I have written poetry completely blank and then discovered a rhythm or rhyme have materialised. I read this poem and started to fall asleep with it, but when I noticed the unconscious rhyme just peeping out at the end, I smiled at the recognition and woke up again!

sometimes we need those breaks to let our minds slip into that place where the magic of poetry exists….smiles…
