I thank you, God,
for giving me
the ability to see
such beauty in a tree.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people!

  3. Eyes are fabulous, Denise. I remember the Jacaranda trees when I was in Pretoria. What a fantastic colour they were.

    • Yes, they are, John. At one stage they wanted to get rid of all our Jacaranda trees as they are aliens and apparently very thirsty plants. What a pity that would have been! Btw, there don’t seem to be any in this area, but there was a gorgeous one where I used to live.

  5. Great tree pics! I am not too impressed with that species at the moment – they have crept over a large chunk of our landscaping and I have been spending hours with a chainsaw to uncover them.

    • I agree one has to be careful where they are planted. I had a really beautiful tree inside the corner of my property and we had to keep sawing branches off because they were destroying the garden wall. 😦

      • When we moved into our house I cut a branch off the tree near the house (recently pictured) and stuck it in the ground on the front boundary. It now stretches across both lanes of the road!

  8. Lovely . . . as much as I love sun, I wouldn’t wish to be without the shade of wide canopies. Thanks, Denise.

  9. Lovely Denise… I face a river which I love, but there are a few trees as well to shade the summer sun.
