I write what I feel…

Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves

Golden leaves drift gently on the breeze

Whispering through the air, winter is nearing,

Coldness is raising its fingers of ice,

Reaching, stroking, freezing the earth

And the leaves gather around on the ground

Mourning the mini-death, simulating sorrow

As if there’s no tomorrow, but most of us know

That all-Ready summer is on its way,

And winter’s stay is restrained, contained

To only a few months of the year where

We recover from summer’s unrelenting heat

And so the beat of life continues its circle

Round… and round… in an eternal revolving ring

Around the sun…

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  2. smiles…the cycle reminds us that no matter how harsh the conditions get there is change…around we go…

  3. This is so good… I love it… that unlikable cycle of cold that I hate seems to be already here…

  4. And while you plunge into Autumn, our new leaves are emerging, Denise.
    Truly the cycle continues!
    Thanks for a nice poem.

  5. And the beat goes on…

  6. Just the other day I came across a quotation I quite liked, and it seems appropriate to share it here.

“Living on Earth may be expensive, but it includes an annual free trip around the Sun.” 😀
