Adeeyoyo's Blog

I write what I feel…

I am reposting this, my second poem, to draw attention to the following reblog from Maxi’s Comments. I am doing this because I see there is no ‘like’ feature and nor are there any tags to attract readers.

Engrossed in a wild celebration of life,

Laughing and shouting, heads back to drink,

As the bottle is passed from one to another,

Joyous excitement with no time to think.

Trees and shrubs and fences flash by,

A group on the corner takes shape and is gone.

Time stops for a moment that feels like a year.

The driver, in shock, cries, “What have I done?”

How fast a life changes, in the blink of an eye.

How quickly a spark can be smothered and die.

How often we warn our loved ones, “Take care.”

Not knowing the danger that’s lurking out there.

  2. Thank you, Chris, for the welcome comment. I would love you to please read the following post and, if you feel moved to do so, make a comment and/or reblog it. There are so many out there who should read it and we all have different readers.

  3. Powerful writing, adee. Your warning is very timeous, with the Matric dances coming up in the next month or so.

  4. Life changes in the blink of an eye … dangers lurk … we need to sound a constant alert to our people.

  5. There are times in all of our lives when we would like to have “do-overs” available to us. But, knowing that there isn’t such a thing, the trick is to have as few of those times as possible. And common sense is the best tool for that. When in doubt… Don’t! That should be chapter one, page one, line one, in any parenting manual.
Another thought provoking post Denise, thanks.

  6. mmm like does change so fast you know….and we are not promised but the moment we are holding right now…it is good to remember that and make the most of the moments…

  7. Oh, how right you are, Brian! 🙂
