I write what I feel…

The sky lightened through the trees,

My spirit lifted by degrees,

The birdsong added to the mood

And every thing in the world was good.

The beauty in the world around

Reflected Your magnificence

And suddenly it all made sense.

Passing Ghosts

“…just someone i used to know

when we were young…

he wouldn’t remember me…”

~ or would he?

anyhow, we’re different people now

lots of water under the bridge

lots of highs and lows (tides too)

we treated each other bad

you know, young and care-less

too shallow were we

rushing from one date to the next

looking for Mr Right

then settling for Mr Wrong

played Happy Families for a while

dad taking snapshots ~ smile ~

then off hunting for his lost youth

in short skirts…

Melancholy Moment

We pass each other on the stairway going in

to the smoke-filled room where a lazy rhythm all its own

beats out the tempo to the sound of dancing feet

and we look away, afraid that we’d be seen

sussing out the talent in my dream…

lifetimes gone before me, is it too late to start again…

oft times we need someone more than just a friend…

oh-oh this is such a melancholy moment ~

the past is gone and buried in the dust

and the future is entirely wound up in trust…

History is a tree with many branches

Laid out by our Father for us to see

Just exactly where we stand,

Without being side-tracked

Or led astray on our way.

We should be meek as lambs,

Innocent and trusting as babes,

Basking in His love and grace,

No airs of arrogance, nor of dominance,

But full of humility;

No second-guessing, but accepting

His will for our lives.

Innocence Departed

I don’t believe

…that children have no conscience

I don’t believe

…that children don’t know right from wrong

So innocent and trusting

that the world will leave its muddy footprint on

I do believe

…that children come from God

…that their first lies are caused by fear

Huge eyes are filled with wonder

Before the cracks in trust appear

Before they learn to hide their face

Before the mask falls into place

(After watching Monster…)

The night lay heavy on my heart,
Scenes embedded in my mind
While the moon sailed by,
Just a sliver in the sky.
Negative night and positive light;
Colours leached ‘til out of sight,
Dark thoughts like clouds rolled past,
Why do some have morals ~
Others none?
What gives them the right
To take a life?
At last…
The long night passed
The birds welcomed the dawn
And with the light came calm…

By the way, you can probably tell I am watching all the movies I missed out on plus some of my favourites.

My Muse

Speak softly, gentle muse,

Whisper in my ear

So only I can hear ~

O would that you could!

Instead I have a baying hound

Snapping at my heels

Saying nought but ‘Write… write… write,

You silly twit.’

And what can I write

That I have not yet writ?

Where is your inspiration?

All I have is perspiration for my trouble

As I struggle…

(After watching The Aviator…)

Am I sane…
because i say so,
or you…
who do not know

If only life were as neat

as the closing chapters in a book,

but entrails creep,

seep through scars unhealed,

carry forth unfinished mortal wounds

which stain the lenses of my eyes

to colour my vision

and only You can heal my sight ~

make me fit to fight

for what is right.
