I write what I feel…

(After watching The Aviator…)

Am I sane…
because i say so,
or you…
who do not know

If only life were as neat

as the closing chapters in a book,

but entrails creep,

seep through scars unhealed,

carry forth unfinished mortal wounds

which stain the lenses of my eyes

to colour my vision

and only You can heal my sight ~

make me fit to fight

for what is right.

  1. Good morning, early bird! I haven’t seen the Aviator. Sounds like a sad movie.

    • Good morning, Pussycat! It was a sad movie. There is such a fine line between genius and madness and it really make one think… Remember the movie ‘A Beautiful Mind’ – absolutely outstanding!

I only mentioned The Aviator because it triggered this poem, but one does not have to see the movie to understand the poem.

  2. Having seen the Aviator.. I get the words you’ve penned… good one…

  3. But to know the wounds exist, and to accept myself, wounded
And to know my own weakness, and to ask Your help
    This is sanity!

  4. good movie/great poem.

  5. I must see this movie in order to understand your poem, adee. It sounds quite disturbing.

  6. I have not seen the movie yet either, but will make a point of doing so 🙂

  7. I am another who lacks the perspective of the movie …
Even without that, the words make challenging statements.

    • The two movies, The Aviator and A Beautiful Mind, are wonderful in portraying the ‘overload’ of one’s mind… but not necessary to see in order to understand the poem, Col.

  8. I’m with John …to know the wound exists and to accept myself.”
blessings to you, Denise ~ maxi

  9. who is to judge sanity…our wounds…we carry those for sure and they can color our lives in good ways and bad…been a while since i watched that one…
