.
A warm blanket on a cold winter’s night
Before being torn just before dawn
By the loud cries of Africa’s birds
Hadedas, wild geese and louries
Taking off to circle the skies
Waiting, anticipating the sunrise

Your birds always sound so romantic in both poetry and prose that I’ve always thought their calls would be much more gentle than ours…

I hear the rushing of the river outside my window with an occasional duck muttering under his feathers. I try to imagine the sounds of your birds there..
