I write what I feel…

Stealing Souls

Some people have holes for souls,

Emptiness where their soul should lie

And they walk on by, shells themselves

Space to rent, for living or working

Or space-saving for stolen ideas

Packed neatly for use should the need arise,

Nevermind the origin was from another brain

While yours rides on the train to nowhere

Holidaying…

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people!

  3. How thought provoking, Denise. I read it to June, and she thought so too.
But I think we all have space for other peoples’ ideas, our minds open!
It is when one has no creativity, to back up and use the imported ideas – and to make them our own – of which you write.. Thank you for this, Denise.

i think we have to be careful we are not just full of others
ideas and never having a mind of our own…

  5. We get ideas from myriad sources, books, life, etc. And they end up as branches of branches of all our experiences. I have only once come across a poem which was almost identical to another – too much to have been a coincidence.

  6. Now, there’s an indictment!
I recall one blogger on 24.com whose poetry I much admired – which turned out to be ‘lifted’ verbatim from another person’s writings. It was a sad lesson in human nature.
