Adeeyoyo's Blog

I write what I feel…

Adulation warped his image:

Mirror-perfect it seemed to him,

He was bigger than all,

Better than all,

Even the law.

But pride goes before a fall.

He flew too close to the sun

Like Icarus of old, and

Despite all his gold

He was consumed

By the flames of his own

  3. Great poem! I read it twice, wanting to capture all of the twists. 🙂

  4. Hubris. A recurrent theme throughout history, both individual and collective.

  5. This is fantastic just as Ben says it Hubris. He had lost all humbleness.

  6. Guzman? Whoeva, pride can be a killer. Well done.

Wow, Mike! Yes I agree… arrogance taken up a notch from ‘normal’, huh?

  8. Good poem with great rhythm, Adee. Justin Bieber springs to mind. What a horrible little ratbag.

  9. When you think of it, Bb, there are quite a few… our ‘most esteemed’ president and perhaps even Joost van der Westhuizen to mention only two.
