Summer sings a sad farewell
As her colours begin to fade;
The rich verdant greens
Of lawns and trees will soon
Begin to change, as autumn
Hovers in the air and the breeze
Whispers that fall is near.
The bright begonias nod their heads
In their sunny, sheltered beds
Knowing full well their time is short,
But content to spread their blissful
Cheer to all who pass them by.
Again, farewell to summer as she
Travels north where welcome arms
Anticipate her with delight.
