Patiently nurturing body and soul
Fostering the feeling of coming home
Loving and giving her all
That they know she’ll be there forever
Fulfilling their wants and meeting their needs
So please, please don’t abuse her trust
Nor assume her kindness without return
Or Mother Earth will burn away
With no-thing left for another day

There is still no sense of urgency, Col, even though we now have proof of the results of the damage we cause the environment.

Your beautiful poem and its sensibility to the Earth reminded me of The Wild Iris by Louise Gluck…do you know it?

When her patience is drained
by this human reign
no trace will remain
not one single stain
of they who have caused her
such pain.
(Or in other words; payback’s a b**th)
Paul Simon’s “Mother Earth” is a perfect fit for this super post Denise, give it a listen.
Jake.

There is always a permanent stain, Brian. I think people are still far too casual about the need for conserving our earth in as pristine a condition as we possibly can.
