Faith

.

…can move mountains,

Or so they say…

But the faith that God

Wants us to have

Is as pure as spring water,

Fountains, clean and clear

As a child’s view,

Without conditions, restrictions,

And no complications,

But the more we struggle to understand,

The harder we try to read God’s mind,

The further we stray from His way.

End Times

.

Let us raise each other up, Lord,

Show us the sun behind the clouds;

Lift our feet from out the mire, God,

As we aspire to see Your face.

When You come in all Your glory

The world will witness at Your feet

And our hearts will meld together

And our love will be as one.

Over My Shoulder

.

Looking over my shoulder

Into the past, all but forgotten

Through the merciless haze of time.

Scattered, dispersed like seeds in the wind,

Loved ones (and not so loved ones)

Gone forever, some into the ether,

Others into far-flung lands,

Leaving only memories, shadows

Lurking in yesterday’s infinity,

While the hands move on towards eternity.

A Sleepless Night

.

A gutsy, gusty wind blows hard against my window pane,

Rattling the blinds, klonk, klonk, klonkity, klonk

And sleep stretches further and further away

Almost out of reach…

My mother was a worrier most of her life;

If it wasn’t ‘your father’, it was ‘you children’

But she did have peace after he had left,

Peace that ‘passeth all understanding’* which I,

Only now, fully comprehend.

The lamp shows it to be one thirty ay em

As I rise to close the outer door, Cat’s only escape route

From the prison of my home…

The wind has changed to sensuous sounds of the sea

Swelling, washing, back and forth, back and forth,

Calming, soothing and the Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Comes to mind as I drift away on the vast sea of eternity.

The Beast

.

A segmented monster,
A body of men,
A mass of humanity
Forming one entity
Lay squirming on the ground,
Hissing and spitting
All around.
Then the head moved
Passed over and down
Until it became the tail,
Curled like a scorpion
Ready to sting.

.

This was a weird dream I had the other night
where the head became the tail and
the tail became the head. Long way round
to do an about turn! What it meant I have
no idea!

Chasing Shadows

.

This life is but a shadow of that which is to come
A dream-like reality laying down the groundwork
For truth and authenticity and a new life with God
Our Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Three in One.

Jesus came to earth to show us the way,
That without our ego’s we are nothing
But what we imagine ourselves to be,
Chasing material wealth and properties
That will be worthless in the life to come.

Our earthly possessions own us, in fact,
As we strive to keep them safe while we’re alive
And to accumulate even more, but what for?
Where’s the sense of laying up earthly treasure
And receiving no reward?

Lightning

* Edited

.

A silver thread ran through the wind

Winding and twining round and round;

Freedom at last

From a muggy past

Where the air lay heavy and still

And he was trapped as it overlapped

Until, bursting with joy,

He cartwheeled into the clouds

Scattering flaming colours,

Washes of silver and gold,

As he zig-zagged his path

With a tinkling laugh,

Way up high across the sky,

Leaving his grumbling shadow to follow.
