My beautiful trees
With their glorious leaves
Reach out to the sky ~
Branches bare ~
Like sticks in the air, resting
‘til the first sign of spring
Sends their sap rising
Rushing, gushing upward
Stirring from the depths of their being
While we’re still gibbering
And shivering with cold.
I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx
Mother Nature nurtures
the pines and the birches
the alders, the elms
and the oaks.
She covers their needs,
provides them with seeds
and they’ll flourish in spite
of us folks.
Nice job Denise you got me thinking early on this Monday and that is not an easy thing to do. lol

Very nice, very creative use of words… sap as life blood.. I had never considered that before.
