I write what I feel…

Post No. 847

We hold our children’s hands

to keep them warm

and safe from harm —

and our father understands

our love is but a shadow of his own

for we are shaped and created

fashioned and turned

bowed and curved to his will

his hands smooth our lives

into his perfection and calm us

in the stillness of time

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  1. Hands can be so intimate and caring. There is comfort in hands, in having one to hold and knowing they are there. And in that his hands have shaped who we are becoming.

  2. Oh, yes! I see you also wrote about Hands and love the way in which you brought in birds’ wings.
