Wings

Post No. 891

Wings

.

To those who fly on gossamer wings,

To those whose hearts continue to sing

Despite their tears,

Despite their fears,

Despite their lonely path through dark,

They will one day be able

To soar higher than an eagle,

With stronger eyes and matching wings

When they are become as hatchlings

In the Kingdom of Heaven

Colours of Life

Post No. 890

.

Colours of Life

.

Some lives appear to be lived in Technicolor®

Others in palest gray

Do they denote shades of happiness

And do they change from day to day

Or perhaps they reflect personalities

Contentment, excitement, nervousness

Joy, hope, fear, fretfulness ~

It remains for the artist to decide

Which colours predominate

And which colours will override

Small Reminder

Post No. 889

.

Small Reminder

.

Just a small reminder

That winter is almost gone

The nip in the breeze

The bite in the wind

Raises tiny bumps on my skin

Prickling, bristling

A shiver runs up my spine

The last of spring days

Before the summer sun

Changing season

By day or by night

Fluctuating ‘tween cold and hot

Erratic weather, while God decides

Whether or not

To allow summer in…

Fuzzy

Post No. 887

Fuzzy

.

Head feels fuzzy, stuffed cotton ears,

And the room rocks gently

Confirming my fears:

Something wrong coming on.

Beepee always good so it’s not that.

No cold, no cough and had a good laugh

At efbee this morning, while the cat

Was sick on the mat ~ drat!

The Raw Heart of Africa

Post No. 886

The Raw Heart of Africa

.

Civilisation peels back the skin

Of sophistication ~

No more than a veneer

Layered very thin ~

Over Africa’s raw heart.

I bleed to see how

It was used and abused

Bribed over generations

Corrupted, outsmarted

By men who stole its wealth.

And, infected now itself,

It cannot reverse time

But openly try to recover,

Unwrap what was papered over.

Secret Music

Post No. 885

Secret Music

.

All of life is a poem

A psalm of praise for our Lord

Molecules dance to the music

Played by the DNA strings

While the nucleus hums softly

At the very core of the cell

In sinc with the melody

Encrypted in the codes of our genes

A Short Step into Nature

Post No. 884

.

A Short Step into Nature

.

I pause before the step through Nature’s door

Which threshold invites me not, nor

Does it embrace my breach;

I am a part of nature, not so,

Although my terrain is vastly engineered

Constructed, concocted and contrived

To be utilitarian to say the least ~

Nature kept at long arm’s length

So as not to contaminate the sanitation

Of so-called modern habitation.

Bah, what do ‘they’ know? Naught

Of the truth. Nature holds the cures

For all man’s ills, if man would only

See beyond his limitations,

For the cures lie mainly in his brain.

Poetry Translated

Post No. 883

Poetry Translated

.

A language of feelings

That speak to my soul

‘bout love carried on the wind

With scents of flowers to refresh

The tinkle of water in the stream

While I dream of things to come

In the free flow of life

Carrying us onward
