GOD revealed

Post No. 900

.

GOD revealed

.

The decision was always His to make

The steps were ever His to take

And Jesus Christ was born of man

God revealed in His own plan

In flesh and blood he could relate

He gave His all for love of us

Suffering torment on the cross

He was no figment to still man’s need

Of a saving grace or creed

But the unadorned and newborn babe

Come to earth to conquer death

Hail to Thee O King of kings

All hail to Thee O Lord of lords

Our glorious God is now revealed

GOD

Post No. 899

GOD

.

He stepped out

From the darkness

Into the light

From the blackness

Into the bright

Still his face remained unseen

The God of old

The God of the Jews

The God of the prophets

The great I AM

Yaweh

Who was and is

And is forever more

Amen

GOD

GOD

God

God is

God is all

Who stands between you and death

Who gives you your last breath

His is the power

He is the Father

Who holds you to His breast

Open your eyes and see

Open your ears and hear

Today you have a second chance

You’re a lucky one –

Some had none

All you must do is believe

Fill your heart with love

For Jesus who died to forgive

And your sin will be gone

Completely overcome

And we will live

For ever

Pressure

Post No. 896

.

Pressure

.

We are under pressure

To run the race of life

The here and now comes first

No more living in the past

Take a step back and look

At today: “life in the fast lane”

Actors in masks doing what is asked

Superficiality has no bounds

Insanity reigns in this melee

As all and sundry join the fray

Feelings smothered, masked

As we try to portray the ideals

Thrust on us by those in the know

And we accept without a word

Without a sign of a struggle

Because we all want to be someone else

And pretence leaves emptiness.

Shadows

Post No. 895

.

Shadows

.

Shadows come and go away

In many different shades of grey.

Densely darkest secrets

Hidden in their copious folds,

Hidden from the world,

Never to be told.

What is life with no shadow,

Where every action leaves its mark,

Positive or negative,

Each one conjures up the other?

Naught but a bland and tasteless mess ~

Unappetising to say the least!

Unless…  our aim would be

To break the chain, sever the fetter,

To give others joy, to pass on happiness

Where e’er we may and find our own recompense

When that shadow falls on us.

The House on the Hill

Post No. 894

.

The House on the Hill

.

It stared sightlessly at the valley below.

Blinds closed to the sun, the wind, the rain.

Frozen in pain, it stood silently waiting

While the wild flowers wilted, choked by weeds,

And the cobbled path limped to the door.

Home, I thought, and felt an answering echo

From the house on the hill.

We Are

Post No. 893

.

We Are

.

We are who we are ~

But who are we?

The boy becomes a man,

The girl becomes a woman,

As a stick of wood becomes a tree.

We are all that we were,

Covered with layer upon layer,

Wrapped and swathed

By life’s encounters;

But still the child hid inside

Looks out from time to time

Marvelling at the changes,

The patterns wrought by us

For both good and bad

In this world gone mad!

Dearth

Post No. 892

.

Dearth

.

I pace back and forth

Watching the clouds in the sky

Blowing hither and thither

Holding on tight to the rain

And I feel their pain

Squeezed, squashed,

Contained under pressure

Unable to explode ~ for now ~

A few drops the day before

Evaporated as they touched the earth

Sucked upward before they

Could slake the thirst of the soil…

And the clouds scud away

Lightning, thunder threaten

To tear them asunder

But no, the time is not right

The clouds are not ripe

And all we can do is pray

For a soft, gentle rain to soak

The dryness away on another day
