I write what I feel…

Post No. 932

Hold on to the silver thread

As it winds through thickets of words;

Hold tight with all your might,

Keeping it always in sight

Lest the goal disappears in the mists.

I am a middle-aged South African woman, living in Johannesburg. I began writing poetry towards the end of May 2010. I love animals – sometimes more than people! I am back after a break. Thanks for still being here, if you are! Missed you! xxx

  1. i was reading a story the other day about a little kid whose grandmother gave her a spool of thread to follow when scared…and it led her into an ogres cave…to save a friend…and then finally on to the safety of her grandmother. but it led her first through the darkness to help others. it was beautiful and you put me right back into it.

  2. This little poem was written with Alzheimer’s or Dementia in mnd although it can apply to a number of situations. I think we all lose brain-sharpness to a greater or lesser degree as we age.
